About Norfolk Forestry Club

Norfolk Forestry Club is a community of people who share a passion for the great outdoors and the many benefits that trees bring to our environment.  Our club was founded by a group of individuals who wanted to learn more about sustainable forestry and land management. Today, we are proud to manage 12 acres of land as a sustainable wood, thanks to the generous gift of one of our members. We meet at Easton College during the winter months for talks on various country related subjects and in the summer we have outdoor meetings around the county. Our members come from all walks of life and backgrounds, but we are united by our love of trees and the natural world. Join us today and become a part of our community of passionate tree enthusiasts!

Our History

In 1969 Norfolk County Council who then ran Easton College as a further education unit in Norfolk started several clubs for land-based activities. They included Livestock, Sheep, Machinery and Forestry, the latter was the start of what is now known as Norfolk Forestry Club. It is still based at Easton College, where we hold our committee and winter meetings. The club has changed a little over the years in that members are more likely to be woodland owners or people with an interest in trees, wood working and nature. We still go out on visits in Norfolk and occasionally outside the county, where we visit woodland, people working with wood or rural pursuits.

Our Events

In the winter we hold talks at Easton College on the countryside, this can be wildlife, forestry, country crafts or even things important to the county, such as the Air Ambulance, rivers etc. Over the years the club has participated in various country shows, including the Royal Norfolk Show and other events. We also like to hold a couple of social events annually where good food and company are equally as important as trees. Now and then our members also get involved with projects organised by other groups and over the years have helped plant trees and hedges at several sites around Norfolk.
